Need A Plumber The Day After Thanksgiving? You’Re Not Alone!

Thanksgiving is one of the most popular holidays of the year for family and friends to get-together in Stuart or Port St. Lucie. In fact, you may have plans to host a dozen or more people at your house this holiday, and the good times often continue on for the day after Thanksgiving as well. Thanksgiving day and the days after are also well known for being the busiest days of the year for our plumbers here at Cooke’s Plumbing and Septic. Here’s why!

If you are like most people in the Port St Lucie / Stuart area, you may have plans to watch football or to head out for Black Friday shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. The last thing that may come to mind when planning for this day is calling a plumber for help with a plumbing emergency. However, Black Friday is actually one of the busiest times of year for plumbing services, and a closer look may reveal why this is true. Here are some of the reasons you may need a plumber in the days after Thanksgiving:

  • Excessive food down disposal
  • Stuffing turkey parts down the drain( big ‘no-no’ )
  • Excessive water washing dishes
  • Heavy water consumption while guests or entertaining
  • Excessive water use and flushing in the bathroom
  • Extra laundry preparing table clothes and napkins

Obviously the kitchen will be heavily used. Starting with running the sink to put water on to boil the potatoes and other vegetables, to running the garbage disposal constantly to cleaning the dishes. With so many pots and pans needing to be cleaned, naturally extra strain is placed on your plumbing pipes, sinks and fixtures. And remember – do NOT stuff turkey parts down the drain!

Turning to the bathroom…on Thanksgiving, your family and friends may eat excessively ( because you know how to make the most moist turkey and tasty stuffing of course ) and this ultimately can lead to extra use of the bathroom facilities on the holiday itself and over the course of the next few days.

Plumbing emergencies that are common on the days after Thanksgiving include clogged toilets or broken toilets, broken garbage disposals, clogged kitchen pipes and more. As you can see, there is a lot that can go wrong with your pipes and other plumbing features during this busy holiday weekend.

Some people may feel a bit guilty about calling a plumber for emergency services over the holiday. After all, plumbers may be enjoying their holiday with their own family and friends. However, rest assured that experienced professionals like our plumbers at Cooke’s Plumbing and Septic are accustomed to this over Thanksgiving. This is because Black Friday is well-known among plumbers for its emergency plumbing service requests. While you may be able to get your plumbing issue addressed with after-hours service, bear in mind that this is a busy day for plumbers. Because of this, you may need to be patient while you wait for a service professional to arrive at your home. But if you do happen to need a plumber this Thanksgiving, don’t let it ruin your holiday, just ‘Call Cooke’s!’ at (772) 287-0651.
